The Green Training Center was built during between April 2009 and April 2011. It is located in the culturally important municipal building known as the "Old School" or "pension". The massive stone building dates back from the early 20th century and is distinguished by its monumental architecture and high aesthetic value. Within the project, the building and its adjacent park have been renovated and adapted to meet the new demands and specific functions of an educational and promotional center for conservation and tourism activities. The Centre is multi functional and is equipped with lecture halls, halls for exhibitions representing biodiversity and cultural heritage of the area and an internet room with an IT-system for online monitoring of wetlands through cameras mounted in specific locations. In addition to direct observation of the lakes by the visitors, the IT-system has been designed to support also the control authorities who supervise the adherence to the environmental legislation. The park area adjacent to the Centre accommodates specific recreation areas and areas modelling the different types of vegetation found in the area: lake area with aquatic vegetation, another area with beach vegetation and a rock garden with an alpineum.
